Our boss had a secret baby (as in she went on "personal leave" for a few months saying "she was having family issues" and then came back to work with a 3 month old baby). She now is wanting to come back to work full time, but expects me and my coworker to watch her baby while we're working.

We expressed this to her, and her response was "so decide which of you wants to sit in the back with her for the shift and which of you wants to be at the front". We then flat out told her that we weren't comfortable with that because it wasn't part of our job requirements when we were hired. Her response was to then edit our training manual and write (and I'm quoting) "The staff purpose is to do whatever needs to be done to fre

Font - kidding). She then screenshot a picture of it and sent it in our group chat saying "this is from our training manual". My coworker and I both agree that the only reason she's doing this much is because she has no attachment to the child (the minute she walks in the door she passes the baby off to someone and then pretty much ignores her for the rest of the shift). Today, she got very upset with us because we weren't absolutely thrilled to play Nannies. And she wonders why everyone takes t

I stood in my boss's home and watched his wife force one of their children to eat off the floor while she cried, saying she was not a dog. RUN! 601 Reply Share

Font - misssarahbee - 19 hr. ago I'd quit immediately and contact the labor board as well as child protective services. This woman is not fit to be a mother or a boss of anything. You can't hire someone as a receptionist and then expect them to watch an infant. Wtf is wrong with people?! 413 Reply Share

Her ego is blinding her judgement, she thinks she can tell her employees what to do just because she's the boss. I'd something God forbid goes wrong and baby is hurt or hospitalized who's at fault? Do you lose your job? What happens then? Fa her and fOher baby (yeah I said it), I wouldn't watch a Flo dog without pay let alone a baby. Reply Share 49

I need to add that we'd be more alright with having to watch her child if we were paid more on the days we had to watch her, and when we asked if we could be paid 2-3 hours more on the days we watch the kid, our boss's response was "no why would I do that? I already pay you?" Reply Share 174

Font - Presentation New5976 · 19 hr. ago There are laws about professional kid watching services. You may not have the right license to do the job. Realistically it might not matter if you have some personal arrangement like a babysitter, but I am almost certain you are not allowed to do it as part of the business without some other qualifications. There is a reason we have insurance, licensing, and by-laws. Reply Share 18
